Our Work
The Foundation’s work brings together industry expertise, research, and public education to address today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.
Our initiatives are designed to improve safety, promote sustainability, and build a stronger, more resilient waste and recycling sector.
National Battery Safety Campaign featuring Woodsy Owl
The National Battery Safety Campaign is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s public education efforts. As batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, become increasingly common in everyday products, improper disposal has created serious safety risks for workers, facilities, and communities. Through partnerships, outreach, and creative public messaging, the campaign raises awareness about how and where to safely dispose of batteries.
By combining industry expertise with accessible education, the Foundation helps reduce fire risks, protect frontline workers, and empower consumers to play a role in safer recycling practices.
